Build it to outlast you.Akindele Akinyemi
Trained to teach. Built to lead.
An award winning educator, he brings the discipline of curriculum and instruction to every table he sits at. He doesn't just make decisions. He makes decision makers.
The next generation has a guide.
As Lead Academic Advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two year college students, he mentors high achieving students on the path from the classroom to careers, leadership, and economic success.
It is the same work he does in business, applied to people: identify potential, build structure around it, and help it scale.
The real test of a leader is who leads next.
In 2014 he and three cofounders started GABA in Inkster, Michigan. Nine years later, with the network reaching across four states, he did what few founders do: he handed day to day leadership to a new CEO and kept building.
The network he built reflects who he makes room for. Its membership is overwhelmingly women, and more than half are millennials.
When he takes the stage, rooms take notes.
- Going global: international business fundamentals
- Building African and Caribbean supply chains in Michigan
- Workforce integration as a systems issue
- Trade between the U.S. and Africa
- From education to economic success
